Here at Drage and Tozer, we have been chosen to supply a pioneering new contact lens therapy that has potential to impact the growing issue of short sightedness among children. The contact lenses are dual purpose, not only do they let children enjoy clear vision whilst being spectacle free but also help to slow the progression of short sightedness.
The effects of being short sighted (myopic) is more than having poor distance vision. Long term consequences of being short sighted is increased risks of developing other eye conditions e.g. glaucoma and retinal detachments.
A new study shows MiSight® contact lenses slowed the progression of short sightedness down by 59% over a three-year period. 41% of children who wore MiSight® contact lenses in the study had no significant change in prescription during the three years compared to only 4% of those who did not.
